Tascam DR-100 Portable Digital Recorder
Tascam's top of the line portable digital recorder is designed for professional recording, offering high-quality recordings directly to WAV or MP3 format. The DR-100 offers the choice of either twin cardioid or twin omni directional microphones for recording, as well as two 48v phontom power XLR Mic or line inputs, allowing external sources to be recorded...there's even a mini 3.5mm stereo jack for line inputs This versatile array of inputs ensures that the DR-100 is equipped for every live or field recording scenario...from music, speech and atmospheric recordings to lectures, meetings and gig/rehearsal recordings.
Recording levels are easily controlled via twin gain dials as opposed to a fiddly menu option, making it easy to get an optimal recording signal level. You can choose to start your recordings either manually, automatically (when a signal reaches the desired volume level), advanced (with 2 seconds buffering), delayed (to eliminate handling noise) or via the included wireless remote control. A switchable automatic analogue gain control with limiter has also been included on the DR-100, along with a triple-frequency switchable low-cut filter.
Although the DR100 is very easy to use, you'd be mistaken if you thought that it was just a straight forward recording device...it also allows you to overdub recordings, manually create new files during recording, divide your recordings and use location markers for quick access reference points. High quality WAV and MP3 files record directly to the included 2GB SD card, which can then be transferred to your computer via a USB cable or the card itself. Playback of your recordings can be looped and the pitch and tempo can be changed. A built in loudspeaker can be switched on or off, for quick and easy playback and monitoring of your recordings. Alternatively, recordings can be monitored via a pair of headphones or the line output.
As mentioned above, the Tascam DR-100 comes complete with a 2GB SD card and wireless remote control. Also included with the unit is a windshield and soft carrying case. As well as being an ideal handheld recording device, a built-in mic stand screw socket enables the DR100 to be tripod or microphone stand mounted, allowing it to be placed vitually anywhere. Power comes from either the included lithium-ion rechargeable battery, two standard AA batteries (not included) or an optional AC adapter (PS-P520).
