scam have been manufacturing home recording equipment for over 30 years with their famous Portastudio range. Now the easy to use functions of those classic casette based machines have been brought up to date with this, Tascam's smallest ever 8-track, the DP-008 portastudio.
The DP008 feature 8 recordable tracks with 2 track simultaneous recording and bounce facility...allowing you to "bounce" multiple tracks onto one, freeing up the original tracks to record over again. Each track has a volume and a pan knob whilst the large screen and jog wheel allow you to easily navigate your tracks. The built in stereo condenser mics offer a very quick and convenient way to lay down your recordings, or alternatively you can plug in mics or instruments via the DP-008's jack or XLR inputs. Other handy features include punch in and out facility, a repeat function, chromatic tuner/metronome and an all important undo button!
Because the Tascam DP-008 is a digital recorder, there is no quality loss whilst recording or bouncing. It records a 44.1 kHz/16-bit (CD quality) onto the included 2GB SD card (removable and upgradable). A USB 2.0 connection is also included for transfering your finished tracks to your computer to burn CD's or file share. The DP008 is powered by either an optional power supply or by 4x AA batteries (not included), offering around 8 hours record time if you're using decent alkaline batteries.
