The NT2A is an upgrade from the original NT1A model and the design and cosmetics of the microphone is radically different from the original, it has a very distinctive inset panel housing the pattern, filter, and pad switches. The NT2A is an FET, transformerless mic that can be switched between figure-of-eight, omni, and cardioid modes, and has a choice of 80Hz or 40Hz low-cut filter frequencies as well as a filter-bypass switch position along with the choice of 5dB or 10dB pads.
Røde have used a mathematical modelling formula to reduce the interaction between the capsule and its housing, and deployed the same dual-diaphragm, one-inch capsule that was developed for their K2 tube microphone. The NT2A's body is made from solid cast metal that's machined, polished, and bead blasted prior to being Nickel plated to create an attractive high level cosmetic finish.
A lock-fast ring on the bottom of the microphone chassis accepts the optional Røde shockmount adapter, whilst a heat-treated steel mesh protects and screens the capsule and the microphone is supplied in a simple protective zip-up pouch with a mic stand adaptor.
