The Roland VP-770 is a keyboard that has been designed with specific functionality in mind - the emulation and re-creation of vocal effects and harmonies. The really neat thing about it is that you don't even need to be able to sing - it's merely the timbre of your speaking voice that activates the vocal effect. This is done by singing (or speaking) into the included DRHS-5 Head-Set microphone that is connected to the VP-770 keyboard ...
The VP-770 takes the user's voice and using software algorhythms creates stunning vocal harmonies that correspond to the notes being played on the 49-key velocity and after-touch sensitive keyboard. The harmony effects range from simple 3 part voicings up to lush Gospel choir ensembles stopping at all stations in-between ... Aside from the harmony and vocal chorus programmes there are also a good selection of Vocoder type effects from classic 70's Herbie Hancock sounds through to surreal robot-voice effects.
To supplement the vocal patches Roland have also included their latest SUPERNATURAL Brass and String sounds from the Fantom G ARX sound card series that compliments the range of designer vocal ensembles. The VP-770 contains 6 types of Auto-Harmony functionality with both chromatic and diatonic scales being used and the unit has a maximum of 128 note polyphony.
Like many of Roland's new keyboards and FX units the Roland VP-770 contains an 18 second looper which can be continually overdubbed to create incredible vocal arrangements. It's also possible to import WAV, AIFF and MP3 files into the VP-770 via the USB memory stick interface and sampling is done at CD quality 44.1 khz. The keyboard contains 16 pre-set patches and a further 16 user patches and will accept a standard XLR microphone along with a phantom power switch should you prefer this method over the accompanying head-set microphone ... Roland have ensured high quality voice transmission with the latest generation of high end microphone pre-amps that have been built into the VP-770. Check out the Roland VP-770 by clicking here.
