The Fantom-G’s advanced sound engine is driven by Roland's powerful new audio processor, and with twice the wave-ROM capacity of its predecessor, it contains an abundance of SRX-quality sounds But what really sets this instrument apart from its competitors is its new ARX expansion which allows additional SuperNATURAL sound-sets and fully dedicated synth and effects engines to be added to this already powerful workstation.
In conjunction with the large-size LCD, the on-board power sequencer pro-level composition tool provides 128 tracks (including 24 audio tracks) in a fully integrated audio/MIDI graphic environment. A mouse can also be incorporated for computer-like speed and ease of use. A new effects engine provides a wide range of multi-effects for each Fantom-G sound or part. In 16-part multi-timbre mode, up to 22 effect routings can be used simultaneously. Users can create complex setups with up to 18 insert effects per patch, plus global reverbs and choruses. Location: The darkest depths of the Nevada warehouse
I was privileged to see the Roland Fantom G6 masterly demonstrated at the London International Music Show by Roland's brilliant keyboard demonstrator Luke Edwards. The demo used a combination of pre-programmed instrumental tunes and individual sounds to present the quality and range of sounds and features available on this flagship model.
Firstly the 400 sound patches are pristine ultra high quality samples that sound simply amazing ... and have an uncanny realism and natural element that will be a joy to behold for keyboard players and programmers. There's also a great sampler that's very simple to use and when you add in the on-board 24 track audio recorder and 128 track MIDI sequencer you can start to understand that the Fantom G6 is a very powerful workstation.
The digital effects like the sound patches are high quality and up to 16 effects can be used at any one time. The various sliders and controls are ultra flexible with almost any task assignable to any slider or circular controller and alongside this there's a bunch of sample pads for manual triggering of samples. To properly justify and describe the myriad of features on this keyboard would take 5 or 6 A4 pages of copy, so the best recommendation I can make is to watch the video demo above and get down to the Nevada Music Warehouse and try this amazing instrument for yourselves ...
