Korg MicroKorg Synthesiser & Vocoder
This 37 key, retro-style miniature keyboard synth was built with portability in mind and can even operate on batteries, but don't let that fool you, this little beast can certainly punch above it's weight.
A wide range of artists have incorporated the microkorg into their work including The Killers, Beck, Air and Prodigy, utilising the infamous sounds which have come straight from the ms2000 sound engine.
The Microkorg comes packed with 128 presets with many of them totalling the four voices that it allows. Any of the programs can be overwritten with your own presets and creating your own sound is simple.
With 5 rotary knobs the microkorgs sound can be sculpted in real time and by also using the two edit select controls the user can mould the Microkorgs soundwave by selecting from any one of its 71 waveforms and 64 DWGS (Digital Waveform Generator System) waves and thats just on one of the two oscillators.
Also packing four filter modes, two ADSR generators, three types of modulation effects and three types of delay effects, these are just some of the many effects included in the Microkorg.

Location: The darkest depths of the Nevada warehouse
The Microkorg is a powerful synth and I was surpised to hear what could come out of it. There are some fairly mediocre presets on here which do not do it justice although in saying that there are some really impressive ones too!
When it comes to modelling the sound, that's where it gets fun but it can appear quite daunting to the new user with the large list of control functions causing some confusion. Once understanding the concept it is pretty simple, each of the asssignable knobs controls the function that is listed directly below it according to which edit function has been selected...Easier to control than to explain!
What makes the Microkorg even better is its midi capabilities. Everything on the korg can receive and send midi messages meaining that you can connect an external midi keyboard to control its sounds if you dont like the miniature size of the keys!
With so much on here it is easy to forget that it is also a vocoder!! Including a free analog style mic the Microkorg has a vocoder section which gives the user 16 programs which can of course all be edited. Best to hear it in action, so for a full demo come down to the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
