Product Information

Roland SS-PC1 Computer Support Stand

I recently attended a concert to see Steve Lukather and his band play live and I remember thinking that his keyboard player - like many others I had seen over the past year or two - ran all of his MIDI patch changes and volume control changes during the concert for his array of keyboards from a Mac laptop perched on a neat little stand next to his keyboard rig ... Now there's a handy little gizmo I thought to myself ...

Well, it would seem that those clever people at Roland were thinking the exact same thoughts, the Roland SS-PC1 is a laptop support stand - it may take a full blown PC but in reality most technology astute musicians will use a laptop in a live situation for transporatbility reasons. Essentially this device is a tri-pod made from tubular aluminium with a flat plate sat on top to accomodate the laptop.

The SS-PC1 can be adjusted for height and also the angle of the "table" plate and is of sturdy construction with rubber feet at the base of the tripod and other rubber "stoppers" (Roland's use of terminology- not mine) that can be clamped to the laptop to prevent it from sliding off the table plate.

There is some simple self-assembly of the product required but nothing too taxing, users should also take care when locating the laptop on the table plate to leave room for a mouse at the side of the laptop. Another point to be aware of is the location of the CD ROM tray on your laptop as this may cause issues when ejecting/loading due to the clamping action of the rubber stoppers.
