Akai have long been admired within the high-tech sector for their innovative products and high quality keyboard solutions, and although the MPK49 has been around for a while it is still one of their most popular keyboard items ...

Although the keyboard is well laid out and functional and contains lots of useful features, there have been user reports of incompatibilities with certain brands of music production software such as Cubase which result in synchronisation and re-set issues. On internet hi-tech and keyboard forums some contributors beleive that this product was specifically designed for Reason software as it runs faultlessly when used with Reason.

That said, I have also read that there are work-arounds for many of the existing incompatability issues, however most musicians can do without the annoyance of having to continually amend or re-set parameters due to incompatibility issues. Hand on heart, this is a very good controller keyboard, it has some neat features that will provide you with a good deal of inspiration when composing tracks.

My only reservation is that care should be taken when choosing a software package to accompany the MPK49 to ensure full compatibility and my best advice would be to check some of the keyboard and high tech forums on the internet and decide carefully what software to pair with the Akai MPK49 ...
