Microphone technology like many other elements of music equipment has improved dramatically over the past 20 years and now embraces the digital age, in its formative years wireless technology was far from perfect as it was badly affected by Radio Frequency activity and I've been to plenty of gigs over the years where the guitarist's wireless system suddenly picks up the local cab rank in the middle of his guitar solo - much to the amusement of the audience ...
 
Thankfully, with new generation digital wireless systems those days are long gone and at the forefront of the new digital wireless microphone systems is Line 6 with a range of models that include some very clever features. The Digital XD Relay systems from Line 6 provide amongst other things the V70 Digital Wireless hand-held vocal microphone and receiver, this is Line 6's 4th generation digital wireless transmission system and now includes a number of microphone "models" that the user can switch between.
 
Line 6 have become known for their modeling technology - mainly for guitar amplifier emulations - and have used this expertise to emulate the sound characteristics of 6 of the best vocal microphones that are currently available on the market. A button on the body of the V70 microphone allows the vocalist to switch between the following models :-

By broadcasting in the 2.4GHz band, the Line 6 XD Relay V70 successfully avoids interference caused by TV stations, public safety broadcasts, Mobile phone towers, and other high-powered sources. Plus, it enables XD-V70 to broadcast around the world without a license. The V70 is also extremely user friendly and very straight forward to set-up, simply power up the receiver, select a channel, and off you go.

Analogue wireless systems are notorious for making their users jump through hoops during setup and operation - the XD-V70 offers the complete opposite with no adjustments required, and nothing to detract from your performance. There will be no more show-stopping dead batteries as the V70 provides eight hours of constant usage from two AA alkaline batteries whilst battery life data is monitored via clear, easy-to-read meters on the transmitter and receiver.
