Boss DB90 Metronome with Sounds and Drum Patterns

The Boss DB90 is so much more than just a fancy metronome, it has so many home and gig applications up its sleeve, its more of a rhythm toolkit.

It’s a Metronone

As well as the usual electronic clicks, the DB90 has real drum sounds as well as a human voice which makes things far less boring all of which can be played through the internal speaker or headphones. There are also 5 volume sliders so you can blend different accents and timings within a pattern which makes it easy to select 1/4, 1/8^th , 1/16^th note or triplet settings. The LCD backlit display has a large pendulum indicator and all of the functions are easily accessed via it’s 16 buttons and large dial wheel.

This is where we get to the cool stuff. It has a practice coach mode with 4 exercises to check your timing and build stamina and it will pick up acoustic drums via a mic or you can use a trigger pad. As well as having 30 different patterns programmed in, it can store 50 of your favourite settings in memory which is very useful if you struggle to remember song tempo’s at gigs or want to save current practice beats and you can connect up a footswitch for start/stop and memory up/down.

MIDI and Amp simulator

It has a midi input socket which can be connected to any sequencer to start and stop the metronome and also pick up the tempo which makes it ideal for live click track applications. Hook up a guitar or bass to the input jack and you can play directly through the DB90 as a simple monitor amp and there is a built in amp simulator setting too.   

All this runs off a 9v battery (included) or optional PSA240 PSU , it has a built in table stand you can attach it to a cymbal stand. It’s a decent size too at 16cm by 12cm and even comes with a soft pouch to keep her nice and safe.
