Product Information

Jackson Mark Morton Signature D2 Dominion Electric Guitar Transparent Black

Jackson?s reputation for producing Rock and Metal guitars is well documented. They also have an impressive list of big named endorsees, not least Lamb of Gods guitarist Mark Morton. Mark already has a sumptuous custom shop signature guitar, but today we get to look at the all new affordable version.

Nato is used for the body, the top being covered in a sumptuous quilt Maple veneer all finished in see-thru black. The Maple neck has a Rosewood compound radius fret board, fitted with 22 medium gauge frets and plain white dot position markers. The spade shaped 3 a side headstock has six good quality Jackson branded die cast machine heads.

Two Duncan Designed Humbuckers each have their own volume and tone controls. Pickup selection is via the three way toggle switch. The tune-o-matic style bridge and stop bar are fully adjustable for string height and intonation.

Jackson are to be applauded for being daring enough to build guitars that don’t resemble the established shapes that so many copy. To my eye, this is one seriously attractive looking guitar. It’s shapely without being whacky and the see thru black finish has been expertly applied highlighting the highly figured quilt veneer.

The Mark Morton is comfortable both seated and on the strap. The neck with its compound radius is a winner, its slim enough to be superfast whilst offering enough meat for comfy riffing and chunky chord work. The scale length is 24.75”/ 629mm, nut width is 43mm.

Plugged in, it’s no surprise to me at the quality of sounds available from these Duncan designed pickups. We’ve reviewed lots of guitars fitted with these units and they always fare well. The bridge pickup has plenty of power on tap. With a decent amount of crunch dialled in chords ring out with authority, full of meat but retaining a crisp cutting edge that’ll cut through the mayhem.

Even with everything turned up to 11 the sound remains focused, just as I’m sure Mark Morton specified. Not many of us can go out and buy our hero’s signature model guitar at such an affordable price. Even better news is, you don’t have to be a fan of Marks to enjoy owning and playing a unique and handsomely designed guitar that will make you stand out from the crowd.
