Vox Big Bad Wah Guitar Effects Pedal

Over the past few years Joe Satriani - the world renowned rock guitarist - has been working in close collaboration with Vox to produce a small range of effects pedals that are designed to his own personal requirements. As there are literally thousands of guitar players who would love to emulate his sound the pedals are commercially released by Vox ...

The latest "hot" pedal from Vox and Joe Satriani is the "Big Bad Wah" which as the name suggests is a wah effects pedal predominantly but far from exclusively designed for use with a guitar. The Big Bad Wah is a rubber-tread pedal affixed to an oblong metal chassis, to the right of the pedal is a number of different parameter controls which include the Drive knob (Fnar,Fnar) the voice toggle switch, the inductor switch and the Wah pedal 1 and Wah pedal 2 control switch.

The Big Bad Wah pedal offers two distinct sounds, firstly a traditional british wah sound which is in effect Vox's own wah pedal, the secondary setting emulates the more american sounding wah pedals that have a more contemporary sound. There's also a voicing option that can emulate the classic talkbox "vowel" type wah sounds whilst the Drive control adds up to 10 Db gain for the " growl" effect that is synonimous with Satriani's sound. Satriani had significant input into the design of the components - particularly the inductor and the wah pot ... all of which means that this is perhaps the most musical wah pedal you're likely to hear ...check out the Big Bad Wah by clicking here ...

Vox's Big Bad Wah pedal is probably the most musical wah pedal I have heard and stands head and shoulders above almost all other wah pedals ... The wah pedal is fairly subjective, some people love'em whilst others deplore them - either way it's an effect that at best is used sparsely during a gig or recording project ...

However, a wah pedal used in the correct context and in the right place can add great excitement to a piece of music - take the opening 32 bars of The theme from Shaft where the pulsating high-hat and wah pedal work in syncopation with each other before the orchestra comes in ... brilliant !! Or the guitar solo on the track "The Guitar Man" by Bread in the mid 70's - again a memorable execution of outstanding wah effects ... Jimi Hendrix ... I could go on ...

Joe Satriani is obviously a fan of the wah pedal, he uses it with great dexterity and panache and has created a very musical sounding pedal that goes from a classic british tone through to a raunchy, hot US growl that would be equally at home in Heavy Metal as it would in mainstream Funk .. The control parameters and switches provide plenty of tonal options whilst the drive control adds a little distortion into the mix ... this product should sell well and not just to Satriani fans ... check it out at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
