Peavey are planning to release a whole host of modelling amplifiers in various sizes starting at the entry level Peavey Vypyr 15 watt model - described here through to a 120 watt model for bigger venues. The Peavey Vypyr 15 is the entry level model kicking out a modest 15 watts of power, although small in stature the Vypyr 15 features 24 amp channel models ? both the clean and distorted channels of 12 of the industry's most popular amps plus 11 editable post-amp ?rack? effects with dual-parameter control.
The Peavey Vypyr digital modeling amp is is based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors that enable highly detailed, accurate modeling as well as digitally enhanced effects and speaker simulation to produce a cornucopia of sound options. There are 4 channels each with 3-band EQ, master volume and pre- and post-gain controls plus there's also an onboard chromatic tuner, studio quality headphone and record out, and an auxilliary input for your CD/MP3/iPod ... Peavey have established themselves as a well respected manufacturer of guitar amplifiers and have now decided to embrace the new technology in the digital modeling guitar amplifier market. The Peavey Vypyr range is their first attempt at amplifier modeling and uses a high quality 32 bit Sharc processor that is able to multi-task by servicing both the modeling software and digital effects simultaneously without any discernable latency. The Peavey Vypyr 15 Watt Digital Modeling Amplifier has a basic array of features with 24 amp models and 11 effects but there's still plenty here to wet the appetite and the range and quality of clean, crunch and overdriven sounds is impressive for such a small package. I'd be very surprised if guitar players are unable to find suitable sounds within the Peavey Vypyr 15's range of pre-sets but just in case there are 12 customisable user patches that allow you to store sounds of your own making ...
