Many Beatles fans who also happen to be musicians will be happy to see the re-issue of the 1964 Texas model shown here ... It is common knowledge that during the early part of his Beatle career the 1964 Texan was the acoustic guitar of choice for a certain Paul McCartney - albeit in a left handed version and is the instrument that many of his most famous songs were written on including the iconic masterpiece "Yesterday" ...
The new release updates the original design by including the latest generation of electronic circuitry pre-amplification that has been built into the body of the guitar and is powered by two Lithium Batteries. Like the original, the new Texan features a premium solid Spruce top with a solid Mahogany back and Mahogany rims, whilst the neck is solid Mahogany topped with a Rosewood fingerboard adorned with the original parallelogram inlays. Epiphone has even reproduced the original blue rectangular sound hole label from the 1960's for true authenticity.
However there are a number of improvements over the original Texan model, firstly, the saddle has been updated to feature a fixed, compensated saddle - sound -wise Epiphone have added Shadow's state-of-the-art Sonic preamp system with the under-saddle NanoFlex low-impedance pickup to allow acoustic players to "plug in." Discretely mounted inside the sound hole, the Sonic pre-amp features a volume control with high and low frequency EQ controls.
There's also a "phase" switch that instantly cuts feedback without affecting tone. The Nanoflex pickup is one of the only pick-ups that senses both the vibrations of the strings and the movements of the soundboard simultaneously. A battery indicator LED turns on when the battery is low and should be replaced within 30 minutes. Powered by two 2032 lithium batteries, the complete system is extremely light and weighs far less than ordinary 9Volt PP3 systems. A Shadow output jack is incorporated into the endpin jack and the entire electronic system is covered by Shadow's 5-year worldwide parts and labor limited warranty.
