Epiphone present the AJ100 jumbo acoustic guitar as the ideal first instrument for beginners and novices to learn upon, it is crafted from reputable raw materials and has an attractive choice of finish in Vintage Sunburst.
The guitar has a
The fret-board is made from Rosewood and provides 20 medium frets whilst the bridge is also manufactured from the same Rosewood. Black biding runs around the front and back of the body and matches the scratch-plate with its Epiphone "E" logo. Multiple rings run around the sound hole for decorative purposes and 6 bridge pins neatly indent the bridge and saddle.
At the base of the guitar is a chrome strap hook that also protects the guitar from scratches if you rest it upright against a wall. The die-cast machine heads are chrome plated and a glance inside the sound hole reveals the classic Dreadnought wooden bracing configuration that is a key indication of the level of build quality of this instrument.
Reviews
This is a very attractive guitar manufactured in the Dreadnought or “Jumbo” style with an attractive Vintage Sunburst finish, the manufacturing and build quality is outstanding when considering the price and would undoubtedly make a fine beginners guitar. One of the best plus-points about the Epiphone AJ-100 is that it is an easy guitar to play - which is an important point to consider for a beginner ...
Sound-wise and again taking the price into consideration, the Epiphone AJ-100 sounds very good indeed with a rich resonant tone that is undoubtedly helped by Epiphone’s choice of high quality raw materials. The Sitka Spruce gives a bright resonant edge to the tone of the guitar whilst the use of Mahogany balances the brightness with deep rich tones. The set-neck plays well and the tuning is stable once the guitar is within a reasonably constant temperature environment.
There’s little to criticise about the AJ-100 acoustic guitar, it’s obviously not going to have the same tone as a Martin or Guild acoustic (which incidentally costs ten times as much) but will be a good starter guitar for a novice or beginner or even an established guitarist who just wants an acoustic as a writing tool. Why not pop-along to the Nevada Music warehouse and put the Epiphone AJ-100 through it's paces - you know it makes sense ...
