Tascam
TASCAM History
Since its formation in 1953 as the TEAC Corporation, the sound recording and processing part of the company was changed to TASCAM in the 1970s. Since then they have been developing and producing products for every sector of the professional and home audio industry. Their product range has all areas covered, from high end post production studio work to the home musician and studio recording.
The early products were the open reel multi-track tape recorders using the now outdated magnetic recording tape, and since the early 1970s, after the home recording boom, their products have led the way in design and innovation. This has given the musician the ability to make their own high quality recording at an affordable price.
As technology has advanced, TASCAM – never a company to rest on their laurels – have moved with the times and incorporated all the new innovations such as digital recording and sound processing into their products. The latest generation of home recording and computer interface products, including the TASCAM US122 and DP-02 digital recorders, have now become a must have in every musician’s home studio.
TASCAM Differentiators
As one of the world’s leading innovators in home recording, TASCAM have developed unique products such as the US122 and US144 USB audio/midi interface, which enable the home studio to interface all kind of instruments and modules with the PC or Mac computers.
The range of home recorders such as the DP-04 4 track and now the DP-02 digital recorders even have a built in CD burner, so you can record, process and produce the finished product in one stand alone unit. One of the most popular products has been the TASCAM range of trainers. The CD-GT1 guitar trainer enables the guitarist to record music and then playback at a different speed without a change of pitch, helping them to perfect playing techniques. This product line was expanded with similar models made for bass players and vocalists. The latest generation of product is the MP-GT1, which has a USB computer link and built-in tuner, metronome and digital effects. The MP-GT1 has, to date, not been bettered or beaten by any of Tascam’s competitors.
