Percussion

Drums are possibly the oldest musical instrument in the world. They originate from every country in the world, largely because the drum is so simplistic in its design.

The ancient cultural construction of a drum consisted of a hollow body with something like a piece of animal skin fastened and stretched across one end. By hitting the drum the air inside vibrated and moved through the body to create a sound. By experimenting with the thickness and tension of the skin, the shape of the body and the size, the variety of drums has greatly developed over time to give us the fantastic array of instruments that we have today, from the popular latin style drums to Bodhrans and Djembes.

Playing the drums gives people a lot of pleasure and they are seriously good fun to learn.
