Product Information

Mackie SRM150 150 Watt compact PA System

The Mackie SRM150 combines Mackie's proven mixer and SRM Active loudspeaker technologies to create a powerful yet compact PA system that is both versatile and expandable. This user friendly system is ideal for a wide variety of applications ranging from boardroom A/V to live musical performance in pubs, bars, or even for rehearsals.

Although initially the footprint of the SRM150 may not seem adequate enough for small venues - don't be fooled by its small size. The SRM150 has two main strengths which are the system's features and also its sound quality. The built-in three-channel mixer features two combined XLR/line inputs (with true 48V phantom power), a stereo channel for a CD/MP3 player, and Mackie's 3-band Active EQ. The SRM150 can even be mounted on a mic stand, making it an ideal near-field personal monitor. .

At the core of the SRM150 we find the Mackie mixer, channels 1 and 2 can be used for mic/line sources, thanks to the on-board Neutrik Combo jack, which accepts either ¼" jack or XLR connections. Additionally, true 48V phantom power is supplied, so that condenser mics can be used if required.

Channel 1 has a rather clever added feature - Simply plug in your guitar, bass (or any other Hi-impedance instrument), press the CH1 Instrument switch and this channel immediately becomes a DI box, without the hassle and added expense of having to purchase one.

Channel 3 on the other hand is reserved for stereo devices, such as an MP3, CD or tape player. Simply connect to the dual RCA jacks from your device and use the Channel 3 Level control to balance the gain with your other inputs. This is a godsend for performers working with backing tracks, MIDI sequencers or drum machines.

The SRM150's EQ frequencies work independently of each other, allowing the user to cut or boost a specific band without it affecting the sound of the other channels. With up to 15dB boost/cut capability per band, the onboard active EQ provides more tone-sculpting and feedback control than you'll find in systems of a similar price band.

The 150-watt Class-D amplifier is matched with a 5.25" full range, weather-resistant neodymium driver, which was developed by the speaker gurus at EAW. The SRM150 puts out 120dB SPL @ 1 meter, which I am reliably informed is far more than most of the competition offers.

Not only is the SRM150 an excellent loudspeaker system for compact PA applications, but it also offers a good performance as a personal monitor. The onboard 3-band EQ facilitates feedback suppression and offers the same tone-shaping capabilities as some of Mackie's compact mixers. The SRM150 is Mic stand ready by virtue of an included boom arm adapter and in addition to stand mounting, this unit was designed to provide the appropriate monitoring angle when used in traditional floor wedge and tabletop position.
