Released at the 2010 Frankfurt Music Show was the little brother to the Zoom H2 Digital Recorder namely the new Zoom H1 Stereo Digital Recorder. This unit is smaller, more compact and ultimately cheaper to purchase than the H2 coming in at just under the hundred pounds mark RRP, and will comfortably fit into a jacket pocket...
The twin- condenser microphone capsules of the Zoom H1Stereo Digital Recorder have been poistioned in the X / Y configuration to produce a near perfect stereo image whilst the unit also boasts high-quality inputs and outputs, plus a microSD / microSDHC slot for storing and transfering audio files. The unit is powered by a single AAA battery, which amazingly is sufficient for about ten hours of recording at the professional broadcast sample rate of 24 BIT/96Khz.
Some of the technology developed for the Zoom H4 flagship model has filtered down to the Zoom H1 Stereo Digital Recorder such as the recording auto-level adjust for recording a low volume source, the time-stamp function in turn ensures that the user is always able to locate a particular recording within the jungle of audio files held on the unit or stored on an external hard disk. External audio sources and microphones can be connected as well as headphones and if required an amplifier.
In order to increase the maximum recording time the user simply changes the standard PCM recording mode to the space-saving MP3 mode whilst thanks to the on-board USB 2.0 port there is the facility for the rapid exchange of data with a PC or Mac. In terms of power, the Zoom H1 has very modest requirements with just a single AAA battery required to power the mobile recorder for 10 hours. Packaged with Zoom H1Stereo Recorder are a 2-Gigabyte microSD card, a windscreen for outdoor or location recording, a single AAA battery and a USB cable ...
