Product Information

This is an entry level pair of domestic headphones manufactured by Sennheiser and as such it would be fair to say that they could be classed as ?General Purpose? headphones equally suited to listening to hi-fi or for use with iPods or MP3 players.

The construction of the headphones uses heavy duty plastic with a black head band and closed back ear pads ? each with the silver Sennheiser logo embossed on the side. The Cable length is 3 metres and the HD201?s come with a quarter inch jack with an integral stereo mini-jack adapter. Frequency response is specified as 21 to 18000Htz and the nominal impedance is 24 Ohms with SPL (Sound Pressure Levels) set to handle 108dB.

These phones are Sennheiser’s entry level model and whilst they sound pleasant enough they don’t create much separation or spatial awareness in the stereo imagery. To be fair they will be fine for most domestic use but personally I wouldn’t use them for monitoring recordings and particularly mixes where the instruments are being panned.

However, yet again – for £20 what can you reasonably expect from a pair of headphones … ? At least you have the credibility of the Sennheiser name and the knowledge that these headphones are well made and come with a 2 year manufacturers guarantee.

So in short, these phones are fine for everyday domestic use but personally I wouldn’t rely on them for semi-pro or professional use, although for the price they’re great value …
