Product Information
Here's a realtively new combo from the guys at Orange that uses valves at the pre-amp and output stages similar to the technology used by Vox. The Orange AD30TC has two channels each with two separate pre-amps which themselves have completely separate signal paths thus retaining optimum tone quality.
The Pre-amp valves are 4 x 12AX7's whilst the Power Output Valves are 4 x EL84's with a singular GZ34 Valve acting as a rectifier. The twin speakers are Celestion Vintage 30's and the Orange AD30TC has its own footswitch to change between the two channels, each channel has Gain/Volume/Bass/Middle/Treble control parameters.
The Orange AD30TC Combo has three external speaker outputs for adding additional speaker cabinets, one rated at 16 Ohms with a further two at 8 Ohms. The cabinet is in the usual bright orange leatherette type finish with a straw coloured basket weave grille that has the Orange amplifiers logo on, the controls are situated on the top upper surface of the combo. Reviews
This is a very "British" sounding amplifier, just like Marshall and Vox the Orange AD30TC has a certain "bite" within the core sound of the amplifier that is unmistakenly "Made in England".
The distortion has the classic warm rounded softness that only valves can deliver, however don't be mistaken - the Orange AD30TC Twin cahnnel amp can get as low down and dirty sounding as any leading valve amplifier but it has the added benefit of the edginess that british amps create within the sound imagery.
The other thing that I believe valves bring to the party is a crispness and brightness to the top end frequencies, there's a certain twang that guitars are given when played through a valve amp that doesn't quite happen with solid state technology. The OrangeAD30TC ain't exactly cheap ... however it is comparably priced with its competitors so if you're a valve fan, get on down to the Nevada Music Warehouse and check out the Orange AD30TC Twin Channel Guitar Combo Amp ...
