Product Information
Here's a relatively new amp head from the guys at Orange that uses valves at the pre-amp and output stages similar to the technology used by Vox. The 30 watt Orange AD30HTC has two channels each with two separate pre-amps which themselves have completely separate signal paths thus retaining optimum tone quality.
The Orange AD30HTC Pre-amp valves are 4 x 12AX7's whilst the Power Output Valves are 4 x EL84's with a singular GZ34 Valve acting as a rectifier. Each channel has Gain/Volume/Bass/Middle/Treble control parameters, effectively giving you 2 seperate vintage valve amps in one! The Orange AD30HTC Class A valve amplifier head has speaker outputs for cabinets 8-16 ohm, so it will be a perfect match with most 1x12" to 4x12" extension cabs. Reviews
This is a very "British" sounding amplifier, just like Marshall and Vox this amp has a certain "bite" within the core sound of the amplifier that is unmistakenly "Made in England".
The distortion has the classic warm rounded softness that only valves can deliver, however don't be mistaken - this amp get get as low down and dirty sounding as any leading valve amplifier but it has the added benefit of the edginess that british amps create within the sound imagery.
The other thing that I believe valves bring to the party is a crispness and brightness to the top end frequencies, there's a certain twang that guitars are given when played through a valve amp that doesn't quite happen with solid state technology. This amp ain't cheap ... however it is comparably priced with its competitors so if you're a valve fan, get on down to the Nevada Music Warehouse and check this baby out ...
