There are some purists who beleive that for true blues tone you can't beat the older generation of amplifiers from back around the early '60's, although today's amplifiers perhaps have more bells and whistles and are digitally modeled, there was something about the older generation of components, valves and speakers that when put together created a little bit of magic ...
This may have been the inspiration behind the re-release of the Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker 2 x 12 30 Watt combo, however the cynic within me suspects that part of the reason may be commercially motivated. None the less, I'm sure there are thousands of guitar players whooping with delight at the news that this amplifier is once again hitting the music stores of the UK.
The Marshall 1962 Bluesbreaker combo features 2 x 12" Greenback Celestion speakers to re-create an authentic 1960's tone, the amplifier deploys 3 x ECC83 valves on the Pre-Amp stage with a further 2 x 5881 Power Amp valves all of which are looked after by the GZ34 Valve Rectifier. The tone circuitry opts for a period correct 3-band EQ and there's also a footswitch operated Tremolo effect. The whole look, design and feel of this amp harks back to a simpler time when all a guitarist had was his amp, his guitar and his talent ...
