This amp is where rock n’ roll really kicked off! The Marshall 1959 100 Watt Super Lead Plexiglas (to give it it’s full name) was used by most of the big names in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s…from Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath, right through to the man who really made these amps wail, Mr Jimi Hendrix…you’ll find the Marshall 1959’s tone on countless “classic” albums from that period.

For this reissue model, Marshall’s engineers searched the globe for an original amp that epitomised this model, ensuring an authentic tonal quality…apparently, when put side by side, there was no way of telling between the original and the reissue! The only addition to the original design is a series effects loop, to add versatility…but to keep purist players happy, a true bypass switch has been added so this loop can be totally cut from the circuitry if desired.

Controls

The deceptively simple controls do not detract from the tonal variations you can get from the Marshall 1959 SLP Re-issue guitar amp head. The front panel features straight forward bass, middle and treble controls along with a presence knob…but hey, just turn everything up full and it sounds fantastic, it worked for Jimi!

100w

The Marshall 1959 SLP all valve head has a power output of 100 watts RMS using three pre-amp valves (ECC83’s) and four power amp valves (EL34) and is suitable for use with most Marshall cabinets (4x12, 2x12 etc).  See the Marshall 1959 SLP re-issue valve amp head now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

It is hard to fully quantify how much impact the original version of this amp actually had on the rock world…even now, nearly half a century later you still have to go a long way to beat it for tone. Admittedly, contemporary amps offer more features, but for sheer balls to the wall rock n’ roll, it's extremely difficult to surpass the oustanding tone and raunch of the Marshall 1959 SLP!

This Marshall amplifier may well appeal to the purists amongst you and perhaps those who truly appreciate the vintage Marshall sounds that were available during the birth of rock music. Subsequent generations of Marshall amplifiers may arguably have focussed on the great distortion sound that Marshall amps are capable of, however the tone hounds out there who prefer vintage rock sounds may be drawn to try out this classic style Marshall amplifier.
