Korg Kaossilator Pro Dynamic Phrase Synthesizer/Loop Recorder

It's a difficult task to describe exactly what the Korg Kaoss-ilator Pro is to those who have never seen this product before. In simplistic terms it is a synthesizer/loop recorder but without a keyboard. This is because all of the sounds and functionality are triggered by a touch screen that the user slides their finger across to activate the sounds - a kind of synthesizer for people who can't actually play keyboards ...

The Kaossilator Pro builds on the original Kaossilator and is essentially 4 Kaossilators in one, it also has a bunch of brand new sounds, MIDI Sync control plus it's possible to save musical pieces onto an SD card for storage or to transfer to another media type. Within this device is an arpegiator, a host of drum patterns and drum samples plus lots of groovy synth and acoustic sounds. All of the sounds can be edited, adjusted and amended and the Kaossilator Pro can also sample sounds and sequences from external keyboards.

The loop recorder can be added to ad-infinitum so that you can build up complex musical and rhythmical patterns, there is a total of 200 onboard sounds also including a Vocoder effect and the USB port will allow connectivity to a PC or Mac. It's possible to change the actual type of musical scale used by the device, with up to thirty-one scale types that cover a range from chromatic scales to major, minor, blues and beyond.

By specifying a scale and key, you can use a single finger to play perfect melodies and phrases that would be difficult to play even on a keyboard. There are also special scales such as Spanish, Ryukyu, and Raga, letting you play phrases that have a distinctive flavor. Another boost in expressive power is provided by the new Note Range function, which lets you specify the range of pitches available on the touchpad from a single octave up to eight octaves.
