Ibanez RG3620Z Prestige Himalayan Black Electric Guitar
The Ibanez RG range have been gracing the windows and shelves of music stores for over 20 years now, there are now over 25 different models that come under the RG banner and they are still as popular now as they have always been..
The RG 3620 Z is part of the Ibanez Prestige range and is manufactured using a mahogany body with a AAA flamed maple top. The Super Wizard Prestige neck is made from 5 piece maple and walnut neck with flat rosewood fret board that utilises 24 jumbo frets and dot fret markers. Mahogany has been used to manufacture guitars for many years, offering good low resonance and sustain.
The pick-up configuration provides
The RG-3620-Z uses the Ibanez Edge Zero locking tremolo system which is in a matt charcoal finish to match the Himalayan Black finish of the guitar. All other hardware is finished in matching charcoal (machine heads and volume & tone pots) resulting in a stunning looking guitar, a welcome addition to the Ibanez RG range.
Reviews
The Prestige Range has always been impressive and shows off Ibanez’s skills at producing high end instruments that will hold their own against any of the competition. If you’re going to ask the best part of £2k for one of your guitars, it has to be able to pass the closest of scrutiny. Materials have to be top notch, as does the choice and fit of the hardware and of course, it’s gotta sound good!!
I’ve gone over this guitar looking into every nook and cranny and it’s been beautifully assembled, with pains-taking attention to detail. It hangs perfectly strapped on with a light to medium weight that won’t inhibit your stage act. The five piece Maple/Walnut neck is sleek and smooth and topped with a lovely dark Rosewood fingerboard containing 24 perfectly fitted and polished frets.
Plugged in, you’re rewarded with some of the best clean humbucking sounds ever. The Dimarzio pickups suit this guitar perfectly, there’s a breathy openness and clarity with none of the honk or wooliness that can burden some other Humbucker equipped instruments. The good news continues when the wick is wound up, smooth endless sustain but with the clarity to let you hear the gap between the notes, no matter how fast you play.
Ibanez’s Edge Zero tremolo is a super efficient piece of Hi-Tech engineering that holds tuning under the most extreme abuse. This is a pro level guitar with a price to match, but pound for pound it’s as much of a bargain as Ibanez’s superb budget guitars.
