Danelectro has a rich and credible history within the music industry, predominantly a guitar manufacturer, Danelectro began their illustrious history as far back as 1947 based in California making pedal steel guitars and models of that ilk. It was only when the craze for electrified guitars became popular in the late 1950's and early 1960's that they switched direction to take advantage of the emerging rock and roll and pop music market ...
They turned a few heads in the mid to late1960's when they began experimenting with materials other than wood for their guitar and bass bodies and have a string of models that used plexi-glass that were favoured by some of the psychedelic acts of the 1960's.
Although they were never officially classed as a main-stream manufacturer, Danelectro have always had a cult, niche following and in latter years the fashion for retro-styled guitars and basses has brought them back to the fore-front of the industry.
