Product Information

Ashdown 550 Touring 1 x 15 Hybrid Bass Combo Amplifier 550 Watts

Ashdown Engineering have now established themselves as a much respected and admired manufacturer of bass amplifiers and speakers, they have some big name endorsees and are a regular site on some of the biggest stages throughout europe. However the Ashdown 550 Touring Combo Amplifier is something a little bit different from the guys at Ashdown - a combination of two different technologies that have created a hybrid amplifier that provides the best features of both ...

The 550 Touring shown here uses a 1 x 15 bass driver and combines a valve preamp with two ECC83/12AX7 valves along with an Ashdown ABM Transistor based power stage. The Pre-amp features a valve driven effects loop and passive Middle, Bass, and Treble EQ which in fact provides a more natural sound than an active EQs. The valve Pre-amp and 550 Watt bass amp produce a punchy bass amplifier with plenty of dynamics and commendable tone definition.

There are also some other impressive features of the Ashdown 550 Touring including a High and Low gain input to match either passive or active bass pickups, a front panel-mounted 1/4-inch valve driven Effects Send and Return, rotary Bass, Middle and Treble controls with Mid Shift and Bass Shift frequency shifting controls, and Bright switching. Aside from this there's a handy Mute switch to silence the amp whilst tuning, rotary Gain and Master volume controls and balanced XLR DI output with Pre/Post EQ switching. There's also two Speakon output connectors, one is connected to the internal speakers, whilst the other can be used to drive an extension speaker cabinet if required.
