Product Information
Akai MPC 1000 Sampling Production Workstation
Akai's MPC1000 sampling workstation inherits from it's bigger brothers all of what are deemed to be the essential MPC features...but in a very affordable, versatile and compact package. Featuring 16 MPC pads, a 64-track sequencer and 32-voice stereo sampling, the MPC-1000 offers production capabilities way beyond it's price tag. Other key features include 16MB of on-board memory as standard (although this can be expanded up to 128mb), a built in Compact Flash Card slot and USB port, two Akai Q-link sliders for real-time performance control, analogue and digital I/O's, headphone socket and a MIDI in and out.
The onboard 64-track sequencer has 32 MIDI channels which can be pattern-based or linear, whilst the MPC's pads are velocity and pressure-sensitive, allowing for expressive programming. These pads offer four-way sample layering and velocity switching. A pad function maps feature allows for varied levels, tunings, attacks, decays or filters for each pad to be programmed. Four-pole filtering for each of the 32 voices is also onboard, as is the two built-in effects processors (plus a main-output effect processor), all of which can be used simultaneously.
Designed to easily integrate into any studio, the MPC 1000 can connect to your Mac or PC via its USB port. This then allows you to simply drag and drop data between the MPC1000's compact flash card and your computer...it even comes supplied with a pre-loaded CF card, packed with some top quality Akai samples, so you can start making music as soon as you take it out of the box! It's solid, rugged design and compact size means that the Akai MPC1000 sampling production station is equally at home in the live environment as it is in the studio.
Reviews
The MPC1000 includes the all important increase in pad numbers and the obvious addition of some extra controls but some of the more important features lie in the utilisation of the MPC1000s enhanced LCD display. Because the MPC1000 has a larger, visually enhanced display and includes dedicated soft keys, it makes processes such as graphical waveform editing not just a possibility but an easy and practical task.
The Akai MPC1000 also has a more audio inputs and outputs and so gives a lot more functionality than the MPC500 especially once its new operating system is installed. Overall the MPC500 is recommended for those either discovering the world of pad synth sequencing - or if you’re on the road a lot and require a battery powered unit then this product ticks that box.
However, if you can live without this facility and can afford to spend a bit more, then the functions of the MPC1000 are without a doubt worth stepping up to. Come and check out the AKAI Professional MPC1000 at the Nevada Music Warehouse.
