Product Information
Ableton Suite 8 Music Production Software   Ableton is a non-linear music production software application that has grown massively in popularity over the past 5 years, its concept is based around a Matrix grid that is populated with sound snippets made up of loops (both drum loops and music loops) samples, MIDI Files and Sequencer patterns. It could be argued that Ableton is perhaps a little more creative than the conventional computer based recording software in that it has a certain randomness to its song arrangement construction. Ableton is favoured by dance music writers, artists and producers and is perhaps the only software application that does not require the user to be a musician ...   Ableton's main music production application is Ableton Live 8, however the product shown here - Ableton Suite 8 builds on the success of its sibling brother and adds a host of extra virtual instruments to the Live 8 package. So let's take a look at exactly what you get with Ableton Suite 8 ... Firstly, this software bundle contains the aforementioned Ableton Live 8 (read the review here), which is the central music production application, however this popular software is also supplemented by the addition of several of Ableton's Virtual Instruments ...   Let me pause for a moment to ensure that everyone knows what a Virtual Instrument is ... ? A Virtual Instrument is effectively a software plug-in that via software and on-screen configuration emulates the sound, feel and characteristics of the actual physical instrument. I guess I should also check that everyone knows what a Plug-In is ... ? Ok a Plug-In is a software representation of a device that was previously only available as a physical piece of hardware such as a rack- sampler, rack effect or a keyboard/synth module. Typically all of these effects/instruments would be made up of a number of physical component parts but would also contain processors/chips/RAM or ROM memory that was loaded with software to allow the user to control/manage the instrument or effect.   The Plug-In has effectively taken away the physical aspect from these products and replaced them in a virtual sense, so for example the replacement software plug-in for a rack sampler would be stored onto a CD/DVD and then loaded onto a PC or Mac. The user would be presented with a screen shot of the physical lay-out and representation of the sampler, all of the controls that previuosly would be modified by physically twiddling the knobs can now be adjusted on the screen by a mouse click or keyboard command. So the user still has the sampler - but it is now a Virtual representation of the hardware device ...  Hope I've explained this so that the concept is understandable  ... ? Apologies to those of you who already knew perfectly well what a Plug-In and a Virtual Instrument do ...   Anyway back to the Ableton Suite 8 - the suite comes with a good supply of virtual instruments which are as follows :-   A library of real world sound objects - this is a HUGE collection of 1,600 new, expressive sounds,  Ableton has worked with some of the world's top sound designers to create a comprehensive set of truly useful, high-end sounds, each one an instrument in its own right. The sounds are provided as instrument Racks with a finely calibrated combination of instruments and effects and many resources now have descriptive Info Texts explaining the characteristics and structure of the sound or Rack, so you know what the sound is before you load it.   Collision - Collision is a unique virtual instrument for authentic mallet sounds and creative percussion. Co-developed with AAS, it uses physical modeling technology to reproduce real-world instruments such as xylophones, marimbas and glockenspiels, but also provides enough depth to create new instruments and sounds. Corpus, a separate effect that reproduces Collision's resonator section, widens the scope even further, providing sonic experimentation from authentic, real-world sounds to exotic, experimental effects   Latin Percussion - this is a collection of acoustic percussion instruments such as congas, bongos, timbales, claves, shakers, tambourines and bells from the worlds of Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and African music ...   Operator - Ableton's renowned do-it-all synthesizer, has been given a major overhaul. Its almost like Ableton opened up the hood, took a long hard look inside and did some serious hot-rod stuff. There are new filter types, more modulation routing options and additive wavetable synthesis with drawable partials which actually make Operator more powerful and flexible than previous ...   All in all including the proprietary sampler and the rack effects there are 10 virtual instruments with the Ableton suite and this means that along with the inclusion of the thousands of music and drum loops and Ableton Live 8 you have a complete recording package that you can build into a laptop or computer - all you need is a PC/MAC interface and a controller instrument such as a keyboard or similar and Hey Presto - a complete home recording package ... Be sure to check the Ableton.com site for extensive compatability details on minimum Mac/PC specifications for running this audio production suite package ... Come and hear the Ableton Suite 8 now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

We recommend that your check the manufacturers site for system requirements (if they are not listed here) against your own computer setup as all software purchases are non-refundable
