The history of Epiphone can be traced back to the 1870s when the first instruments were made, since then they have become part of the Gibson guitar company. Epiphone is known for its wide range of affordable guitars, basses and acoustics which are based on the famous names and styles of their big brother Gibson guitars. The most popular product is of course the Les Paul standard guitar. The shape and style is often copied, but the copies always lack the sound and kudos that the genuine article offers.
