Dean Rhapsody 8 String Bass Guitar Natural Bubinga

This boutique style 8-string Dean Rhapsody bass guitar is loaded with features that are only usually found on high end custom shop models. For a start there's the Twin EMG pickups, a Dean 3D pre-amp, Grover machine heads, and Dean's exclusive 2-piece Anchor Bridge System.

The instrument's Mahogany body with a Bubinga top adjoins with a Maple/Walnut neck, it also has a 24 fret Rosewood fretboard complete with Abalone dot inlays.All hardware is black including the Dean 2-piece Anchor Bridge System and Grover machine heads whilst the pick-ups are EMG HZ's linked to Dean's own 3D pre-amp.

Now here's something that you don't see every day .... an 8 string bass configured as on a 12 string guitar with 4 pairs of strings tuned in octaves. Not sure what particular genre of music you'd apply this instrument to but on any kind of rhythmical arrangement it's bound to add someting slightly unusual ...

Other than the fact that this instrument has 8 strings it's well made and was set-up well from the factory, the pick-ups certainly kick-out a fair old volume level and EMG has a certain reputation for their high gain output. Despite the fact that the strings are an octave apart the string tension is good and there's still a relative amount of room on the fretboard for busy fingers ...

To be frank ... I'm not sure if you have to be a genius or a complete nutter to want one of these - or perhaps a little of both. In my humble opinion this will only appeal to a small percentage of bassists and even then it will be those that are looking for something out of the ordinary. Try this beastie at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
