Mr Zogs

Mr Zogs Sex Wax was originally produced in the late 1960's in Goleta, California as a wax to use on Surfboards to help barefoot surfers maintain grip on their board ... Many years later it fulfills the same role for drummers who use it to coat their drumsticks ...In 1975, with sales continuing to increase, Zog moved the factory from his garage to a single "unit" in small warehouse-style complex located in the heart of Goleta. Though the new factory was considerably bigger than the old one, wax production quickly took up all the available floor space. Strapped for room, Zog began hauling each day's bounty of unwrapped wax from the factory to his home, where the bars were wrapped and boxed for shipping. Meanwhile, the ever-growing demand for Sex Wax T-shirts continued, and much of the inside of Zog's house was stacked floor-to ceiling with giant boxes crammed full of T-shirts. (His wife really loved this!)Over the next few years, the factory's square footage quadrupled in size, as Zog kept renting additional "units" to keep up with increased production. Finally, in 1983, Sex Wax Inc. relocated to its present location in Carpinteria, California, just a stone's throw from Rincon, one of the world's premier surfing spots.

Ovation

Ovation guitars were created in 1966 by aeronautical designer Charlie Kaman who had spent much of his career trying to remove vibration from helicopter rotor-blades. As Kaman puts it "With guitars, much of the design is focused on enhancing the vibration, so it was merely a case of doing the opposite to what I had been trying to achieve in the aeronautical industry." Ovation's first models were radically different to the traditional acoustic guitars of that era in that they used rounded bowl-back designs and materials other than wood. An early endorsee was American artist Glen Campbell whose weekly TV show brought the Ovation guitar into the homes of millions of Americans. Over the next 20 years the Ovation range flourished and evolved with popular artists such as Paul McCartney and Wings, David Gates from the band Bread and Elton John guitarist Davey Johnstone all choosing to play and record with Ovation guitars. The brand had now become electrified with under-bridge piezo sensors whilst the designs now include deep, mid or shallow bowl options. Nevada Music now has a range of Ovation acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars with other models available to order.

When WW2 broke out, Premier was engaged in the manufacture of gun sights for tanks and aircraft, but the factory was bombed out in 1940 and the company was relocated to a new Leicester facility shortly thereafter. The company enjoyed great success during the Beat Boom of the 1960s not only in the UK, but worldwide, and won the Queen's Award to Industry in 1966. During the 1970s, Premier invested heavily in a new, purpose built factory to meet demand for their products, but in 1983, the Della-Porta family resigned from the board and the company's name was changed to Premier Percussion in 1984 following a management buyout. In October 1987, Premier was merged with Yamaha, which owned the Leicester factory until 1992. During this period, Limited was appended to the company name. In 1992, Tony Doughty, who originally arranged the Yamaha merger, took over the company.
