So ..... here's the brand new flagship Bass Effects unit from Boss - the GT-10B which has been optimised for the low frequency domain.Like its sibling brother the GT10 it uses the latest generation of DSP and COSM amp modelling engines to produce the highest quality and versatility of any Boss effects unit to date.
Make no mistake, this unit is packed with bass effects goodies and there's a wide range of mouth-watering effects to choose from - just like when your Mum used to get the tin of chocolates out at Christmas ... Indispensable effects for bass include pro-grade OD/DS, Compressor, Limiter, Synth Bass, Defretter, and EQ, complimenting the full range of FX offerings, from essential to esoteric.
But BOSS didn't stop there, they also included a Phrase Loop function which enables you to create sound-on-sound loops in real time. The GT-10B also features 1/4" and professional XLR outputs, which provide the parallel output necessary for flexible bass applications.
With its strong, stylish design, and six dedicated footswitches plus expression pedal, the GT10B contains all the processing power you're ever likely to need. The clearly illuminated buttons, intuitively-responding knobs, and large, high-contrast LCD and LED make using this bass multi-effects unit a doddle and even during concert stage lighting or in glaring sunlight.
The GT10B also comes equipped with a rear-panel USB port, where audio and MIDI data can be streamed digitally to computers, digital recorders, or other compatible devices. The USB port also allows for safe and quick transfer of creative data.
This beauty is now available to try in-store at the Nevada Music Warehouse, so come and try this stunning new Boss bass multi-effects unit ...
Reviews
This is the sibling brother to the guitarists version - the GT-10 only this time for bassists. Sound-wise this effects processor is going to take some beating, almost all of the effects aboard this unit could be classed as pro effects or studio effects and the quality of the sound and range of sound editing facilities is superb.
For me, bass effects need to be subtle so that the great tone of the bass instrument itself is not masked by some swooshing fizzy noise that passes for a bass effect. The GT-10B can provide both extremes of the scale, dressing up your bass to sound like a synth bass or subtly enhancing the natural sound with compression, a limiter or a gentle chorus effect.
For those who are nervous about editing sound there's even an on-screen EZ Sound capability where the in-built LCD screen walks you through a series of commands to help you achieve your sound modification. The floor unit comprises 8 on-off switch-type pedals and the shift-able volume/wah moving foot pedal. The activation LED lights work well and are clearly visible in almost all types of lighting environments.
It's a shame that salivating bassists will have to wait until April 2008 to get their hands on this jewel, but having heard it demonstrated at the 2008 Winter NAMM show I'm pretty certain it will be worth the wait ...
