The Marshall MB60 Bass Combo is part of Marshall?s new bass range and like many other models within this range offers a fresh new approach to EQ and tone voicing. Each amplifier or combo within this range has two separate channels one entitled ?Classic? and the other ?Modern?. As the name suggests each channel has its own particular EQ that refers to either the classic or modern Marshall bass sound.

So as you?d expect the classic channel gives that much loved warm yet punchy valve sound that we have associated with Marshall over the last 30 years ably assisted by the ECC83 valve pre-amp. The ?Modern? channel on the other hand gives a cleaner, slightly sharper attack for those bassists who prefer a slightly more metallic edge to the frequency range and is ideally suited to those who use a bass plectrum when playing to extract a little more top end.

On some of the higher end models within the Marshall MB range there is the option to mix the sound of both channels together but unfortunately not on the Marshall MB60. The combo uses a 12? speaker and the Modern channel has the usual Bass, Treble and a sweep-able Parametric mid control for dialling up your sweet-spot whilst there?s also a switch-able compressor with a variable level control.

The Classic channel gains its warmth from the ECC83 Pre-amp whilst the EQ is of the 3 band passive type with a mid-voice control that has three different mode settings and a boost switch. Both channels can be selected by the foot switch that comes with the combo ?

Other features on the Marshall MB60 bass combo include an onboard limiter, a DI out via XLR and an FX loop, the power rating is as the model name suggests 60 watts and the combo weighs in at 23 Kg. Check out the Marshall MB60 Bass combo now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

The Marshall MB range has long been awaited by the industry and ultimately has been worth the wait. Marshall’s reputation for bass amplification has grown steadily over the decades and they are now much respected in that particular field. The Marshall MB60 Bass Combo amp does nothing to deter that reputation and uses the concept of two alternatively voiced channels to its optimum advantage.

The Marshall MB60 bass combo amp pretty much does what it says on the tin …. The classic channel has great warmth, depth and presence with the mid voice control helping to shape the sound and guide the player towards the desired frequency range. This is the tone that many have come to admire from Marshall bass amps and it really does hit the nail by calling it their “classic” bass sound.

By contrast the “Modern” channel on the MB60 could be described as a more “high-energy” sound which although it has plenty of bottom end thump, also has a good degree of top-end “twang”. The compressor and limiter are useful additions as is the ability to switch channels via the footswitch and although 60 watts may not sound much it will be ideal for a beginner or for smaller more intimate pub gigs or as a rehearsal amp.

I have to say I’m quite impressed by this new range and would encourage all existing and would-be bass players to take the time to try them out …See the Marshall MB60 60 Watt Bass Combo Amp now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
