At the top end of the Marshall MB bass amp range sits the 450H amplifier head kicking out a thunderous 450 watts RMS of solid bass power into 2 Ohms or an equally impressive 300 watts into 4 Ohms.

As with many other models in the range the Marshall MB450 300 watt bass amp head is packed with all of the new features introduced by Marshall on the MB range and includes the Classic and Modern channels – which each have very distinct tonal qualities.

The Classic channel utilises Marshall’s ECC83 valve on the pre-amplifier for that legendary warm, round yet deep bass tone that has been the mainstay of Marshall bass amps over the past 40 years.

The Modern channel has a much more contemporary sound which has more aggressive tones and an enhanced top end and yet retains all of the low frequency punch and drive required for high energy music.

The Marshall MB450H also has a built-in Compressor and Limiter, 3 band EQ, an XLR Line out for Direct Injection and two jack and Speakon inputs at the rear. It also comes complete with a footswitch to switch between the channels and an ingenious “Blend” control to integrate the two sounds together and an FX loop for adding external effects. This really is a cracking bass amplifier, Marshall have managed to create the classic bass sound and a more “up to the minute” secondary option with the Modern channel - yet both within the same amp. Both channels sound great individually and provide some interesting options once mixed together using the Blend control.

There are masses of tonal options within the Marshall MB450H and it won’t matter what model of bass you play – there’ll be plenty of sound choices to choose from. It’s nice to see that Marshall have added some neat additions such as the Compressor and Limiter and also the external FX loop. So providing you match this amp with a decent speaker cabinet configured to the correct Ohmage it should sound the business …

At 450 watts into 2 Ohms this is one loud Mother and there won’t be too many venues where you’ll need to add to this level of wattage. So, all-in all I’d have to say that the MB range is a complete success, now do yourselves a favour and get down to Nevada Music to check out the MB450H 300 Watt Bass Amp Head …
