At 150 watts power output the Marshall MB150 packs a pretty hefty punch on stage or in the studio. As part of the  Marshall MB bass range from Marshall the MB150 has two channels – the first voiced with the classic Marshall valve sound – and therefore called “Classic”, whilst the other, - a more high energy type voicing is called the “Modern” channel.

As the name suggests the Classic channel has the depth, richness and presence associated with Marshall’s legacy of valve technology and this comes from the on-board EC83 Valve pre-amp. The EQ on this channel is passive but includes a Mid-voice control and a boost switch, and the sound is typical of the Marshall bass sound that many have come to know and love.

The Modern channel has an altogether more aggressive sound with a slight metallic twang and accentuated top end. Although less subtle than the Classic channel it still retains plenty of punch but the enhanced presence and higher frequencies give it that “ …in yer face ..” vigour that many modern day bands like to use to energise their music. This channel has a sweep-able Parametric Midrange EQ and a Compressor with variable level control.

The Marshall MB 150 bass combo houses a 15” speaker and each channel has its own individual EQ settings whilst the MB150 also includes an on-board limiter. Other useful features that Marshall has included are an XLR line out, an FX loop and a footswitch to change channels. The Marshall MB150 weighs in at 30 kilos and has dimensions of 580 x 585 x 355 (mm)- Check out the Marshall MB150 150 Watt bass Combo Amplifier now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

This is another model from the impressive Marshall MB range released during 2007 by Marshall and they have certainly packed a lot of features into this modestly sized combo.

The channel descriptions really tell the story of the Marshall MB150 combo amp, the Classic channel really does nail that much admired classic warm Marshall bass sound. There’s plenty of depth, punch and yet somehow a rounded softness to the top end that typifies valve technology.

The Modern channel by contrast has a harder top end and will align itself well to high energy music that utilises a more aggressive bass sound. There’s still plenty of bottom end frequencies but these are balanced with the presence and high mids on the modern channel.

There’s plenty of volume here too and this amp should meet most venue requirements, all in all a very commendable piece if kit and one I would encourage all bass players to try … Check out the Marshall MB150 Bass Combo Amp now at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...
