Ashdown are one of the last manufacturing bastions in the UK as far as amplification is concerned and they have many admirers amongst celebrity bassists that include Jamiroquai, U2 and Radio Head. They produce a comprehensive range of bass amplification that they hope will fit almost every budget and genre, and have several "starter" models in the hope that they can capture new generations of bass players as they start to learn their instrument ...
The Ashdown After 8 Bass Combo Amplifier could be deemed to be a starter model at just 15 watts output, it uses a custom designed Ashdown Blueline 8" speaker. Sounds can be shaped quickly and intuitively using bass, middle and treble controls, supplemented by a pre-shaped 'deep' switch. A headphone output is provided for private practice along with an extension speaker output.
The cabinet itself has been constructed using Birch ply and has metal corner protectors and rubber feet at the base with a chunky carrying strap located at the top of the chassis. All amplifier controls are situated on the upper surface whilst the black speaker grille has white piping around the edge and the Ashdown logo located in the top centre position.
