Ovation Applause AE140HB 4 String Acoustic Bass Honeyburst
Over recent years it has become fashionable within certain music genre for bass players to choose to play an acoustic bass instrument. This started with the popular range of 'un-plugged' albums championed by MTV and since then many artists incorporate an 'acoustic unplugged' section to their concerts.
Guitar and bass manufacturers were quick to spot the potential in this niche market and quickly began designing and releasing acoustic bass guitar models to meet this fashionable requirement.Which brings us nicely to the Ovation AE140 4 string acoustic bass which has been developed along the same lines as the successful Ovation acoustic guitar range using Lyrachord bowlback design and a pinless bridge - a difficult feat of engineering design considering the tension created from bass strings.
The top uses Spruce whilst the body has a single cut-away on the lower right hand shoulder of the instrument, the neck is Mahogany complementing a 21 fret Rosewood fretboard. The body is bound at the edges and sports a decorative Abalone rosette encircling the sound hole, the cosmetics are completed by an expertly applied Honeyburst finish.
