Bass Guitars
The bass guitar became popular in the 1950s as bass players in dance bands of the era were drowned out by brass sections and electrified guitars. Leo Fender had the idea to create an electrified bass that could be played through an amplifier via magnetic pick-ups - thus restoring the sound balance and allowing the bass to be heard once again in the middle of a noisy dance band. The Fender Jazz Bass - as Leo Fender called it - is still going strong today.
Acoustic Bass Guitars
The bass guitar is essentially a rhythmical instrument and along with the drums often determines the pace, time signature and feel of the song or music that is played. The bass guitar and drums played together within an ensemble is often referred to as the "Rhythm Section" and in modern music the bassist will often play a sequence of notes that is synchronised with the bass drum pattern to enhance the dynamic effect.
Bass Guitar Packs & Accessories
Modern technology has allowed specific types of amplification and effects to be created to shape and control bass frequencies within a desired environment such as a theatre or recording studio. Compressors, Limiters and Graphic or Parametric equalisation are just some of the effects used to process the sound of the bass guitar. Many of these effects can be added via switch-able foot pedals, multi-effects processors or in professional circumstances as rack mounted effects units.
There is a huge selection of Bass Guitars and accessories available from Nevada Music for right and left handed players, as well as beginners to the professional musician.
