If you are looking to use a microphone for instruments or drumkits then you need to find the right one for the job. A bass drum mic will require a better low frequency response than an overhead mic which needs to respond to snare and cymbal sounds.
Drum microphones are available in sets of 3, 5 or 7 microphones from companies such as Shure or Samson. If you want to mic up a backline amplifier then you can't go wrong with the Shure SM57.
Whichever you choose, just make 100% sure that it is suitable for your instrument and the environment in which it will be used.
