Peavey Pro 12M Monitor Unpowered

Another product from the Peavey Messenger pro range is the Pro 12M wedge floor monitor. The Pro 12M uses a single 12” woofer along with a single motor ceramic high frequency driver to kick out 100 watts RMS continuous in to 8 Ohms with a 400 watt peak.

On the face of the Pro 12M is a “Level Attenuator” which normal people like you and I would know as a volume control, so why Peavey needs to deploy marketing people who are trying to re-invent the wheel by creating new names for recognised and accepted descriptions I’ll never know …

Next to the volume control is the ¼” jack input and the silver steel speaker grill protects the 12” woofer from Prima Donna guitarists who like to put their foot on the monitor whilst going widdly – widdly.

The outside surface of the wedge monitor is covered with industrial strength black carpet and on each side is a high impact plastic carrying handle. The weight of the Pro 12M is 12.5Kg whilst the dimensions are 14.4'' (365mm)H x 25.6'' (650mm)W x 17.3'' (440mm)D.

For most bands these days floor monitors are a luxury, it used to be that back in the 70’s and 80’s when close harmony singing was all part and parcel of a band’s performance the floor monitors were invaluable to keep the voices in pitch. If I had my way it would be law for all lead singers to use floor monitors as I’m sure once you’ve used one you find it hard to live without it – and I say that as a lead vocalist of 30 years.

The Peavey Pro 12M is a very efficient floor monitor, it kicks out a hundred watts of power and provided you position it well can serve two or even three front line vocalists. Floor monitors are often overlooked by bands and considered an unnecessary luxury, if only those people knew what an asset they would be to a lead singer or harmony vocalist …

So in short, this is a very efficient product that does exactly what it says on the tin, and until In-ear monitoring systems come down in price to a sensible level floor monitors will be around for years to come
