The Shure PG 58 is an entry-level hard-wired vocal microphone, not to be confused with the SM58 model, its internal voice cartridge has been specifically engineered with a frequency response tailored to the range of the human voice.
This model has the typical Cardoid polar response pattern used on vocal microphones to ensure that sound is picked up from the area directly in front of the microphone. This choice of polar pattern optimises the highest possible volume levels without the threat of feedback, the dynamic cartridge within the PG58 contains a Neodymium magnet which provides high output levels that are free from distortion.
The chassis of the microphone is of durable metal construction and has an internal shock-mount to reduce the level of handling noise. On the front face of the microphone is an on/off switch for on-stage mute control, covering the diaphragm is a hardened steel mesh ball grille that resists wear and abuse.
The PG58 has an in-built “pop-filter” that reduces explosive breath sounds and wind noise, included with the microphone is a 15ft (4.57m) cable, break-resistant mic clip and storage bag and is available with either a ¼” jack interface or an XLR connector.
