Whilst I am not advocating that you should use your SM58 as a replacement for a hammer, it does highlight the build quality and ruggedness of the components used by Shure to manufacture the SM58 microphone.

The Universal Cardioid pattern means that the microphone will only pick up audio signals from the immediate vicinity surrounding the microphone. This is what helps to reduce feedback and allow high volume levels. The SM58 is a tried and tested winner going back over 25 years and was used extensively on Live Aid, I don’t really have to say much more to justify its quality ….
