There are many types of keyboard stands on the market including the "X" frame and "A" frame models. Most of them are collapsible and thereby form a much smaller footprint which can be easily transported.
The "A" frame stand - so called because the ends of the stand emulate the letter "A" probably has the greatest capacity, with up to four tiers available on the better models. "A" frame stands are usually made from tubular steel and although they are relatively simple to assemble they will generally take longer to do so than the X-type stand.
The X-type stand is so-called because it is formed by two pieces of cross braced metal that form the letter X when assembled. This is a much more simple design and can be assembled in a matter of seconds. It can easily support two keyboards, but cannot match the capacity as the "A" frame.
