The term "Home Keyboards" relates to the wide variety of electronic musical keyboards that are predominantly at the entry-level market point.
Manufacturers such as Yamaha, Roland and even Nevada themselves are producing keyboards that are affordable, lightweight and packed with a myriad of features - some of which were previously only available on much higher end models.
As a general rule of thumb Home Keyboards would be suitable for those wishing to start learning the instrument in that the cost is not prohibitive. Certain models cater specifically for novices and start-up students and include interactive visual software that helps the student to understand some of the theory behind the musical notes.
Versatile On-Board Features
Almost all home keyboards feature on-board speakers and an amplifier as well as containing a comprehensive range of sounds from which to choose. Moving slightly up the model range there are those that, although are still starter models, include recording facilities such as a sequencer. There is even a system that lights up the actual keys to show the student where to place the fingers.
