The digital piano is a musical keyboard instrument that has been designed as an alternative to the traditional acoustic upright piano, and some may argue that it has many advantages over the original instrument.

Modern day sampling technology can emulate the most expensive Steinway Concert Grand Piano which can be stored in a digital piano and recalled at the push of a button. Depending on the brand and model of the digital piano many other sounds are offered that can be played back using the piano keyboard and in comparison to an acoustic upright piano the digital piano tends to have a much smaller footprint and is also much more easily transportable.
