Description

The Peavey KB 3 is a kind of hybrid combo amplifier in that it can be many things to many people, essentially it was designed as a compact yet powerful keyboard amplifier but it offers a few other versatile features that make the KB 3 more than just a keyboard amp.

It has 3 seperate channels and a dedicated microphone input which means that this combo could also double as a small PA system, the power rating is 60 watts RMS which can increase to 80 watts with the addition of an extension cabinet. The KB3 utilises a single 12" speaker with a tweeter and each channel has 2 band EQ, there's also a fourth channel that doubles as a monitor output.

A handy inclusion is the FX send and return controls which effectively turn this combo into a compact and portable high quality PA system, there's also an XLR direct out just in case you have the luxury of connecting to an even larger PA rig.

The KB3 would be the ideal combo for a singer/musician/songwriter who likes to perform in small intimate venues, the 3 channels would allow you to connect an instrument (in stereo) along with a microphone for vocal accompaniment.

The sound reproduction is crystal clear and the tone is good from the amp, the tweeter helps to add that top end sparkle and keep everything sounding nice and crisp. Whilst 60 watts is not a massive amount of power, it should be enough for most small pub/club gigs and there's always the option to add the extra speaker cabinet and take it up to 80 watts ...

So although this is a perfectly good amp for a keyboard or piano player it's versatile enough to warrant interest from solo artists who accompany themselves on electric or electro-acoustic guitar as well. It's made to the usual Peavey high standard and includes a few interesting features not normally available on other keyboard combos ,.. check it out and see for yourself ...
