Hiscox Std EA Slimline Electo Acoustic Hardshell Case
Writing a review of Guitar cases is not going to win me the Pulitzer Prize for literature, nor is it particularly going to make me any more attractive to the opposite sex, it won’t even gain me the respect of my peers and colleagues.
So why am I doing it then you may ask yourselves …?
Well it’s certainly one of the more mundane topics within the glitzy world of rock stars and limousines, but it’s possibly the most overlooked topic of all. I know of many musicians who scrimp and save for months to purchase their dream instrument, they polish and clean it religiously, but still carry it about in the original cardboard box that it came in until the box finally disintegrates into a flaky mound of re-cycled mush.
My point is this …. Having spent the King’s ransom on your 7 pick up Les Paul Special Standard Custom Limited Edition Deluxe, would it not make perfect sense to wrap the instrument within a sturdy hard case to make it more easily transportable and protect it from the elements?
You might wish to choose a fully fledged flight case – but it doesn’t have to be a heavy as lead, bullet-proof flight case as there are now quite a few very affordable alternatives that give almost the same level of protection as the flight case.
One such example is Hiscox Cases, Hiscox offer a range of cases known as the “Liteflite” range that utilise a moulded high impact resistant ABS plastic outer shell, which is bonded directly to an inner moulding manufactured from their unique blend of 'High Tech' cellular foam. This inner moulding is extremely light and, being semi-rigid, is designed to soak up impact shocks from the environment. This unique bonding of the inner moulding to the outer shell gives total structural rigidity which Hiscox claim is unmatched by any other case in the world.
They have a diverse range of cases to fit almost all mainstream guitar models including Jumbo Acoustics, Deep and Shallow Bowl acoustics, Fender guitars, Gibson Les Paul, SG and 335 models along with slightly less mainstream examples such as cases to fit Parker guitars and the PRS range.
The inside of the Hiscox case is lined with either a deep pile fur fabric on the standard range, or alternatively a crushed velvet type material on the Pro range. Extra cushioning is provided by upholstered pads in the Pro range which are factory fitted in key areas. These can also be supplied loose in order that the body cavity may be customised to provide a closer fit for a particular instrument.
