The 12 string electro acoustic guitar is - as the name suggests, - an electro acoustic guitar with twelve strings which acoustically produces a rich, resonant tone with a slightly bigger sound than the standard six string.
It has the added advantage of having a pickup which can be plugged into an amplifier. This gives a natural chorus effect due to the subtle difference in string timbre which will be reproduced through the amp. As with any 12 string, it is a lot more difficult to play due to the string spacing which makes it harder to pick and bend, yet the results are worth the extra effort!
An electro acoustic will have the advantage of a cutaway body design which makes it easier to fret the guitar at the bottom of the neck. Most of the major manufacturers have a 12 string electro acoustic in their range and they can be from the budget market to a high end model such as those by Fender and Yamaha.
